(English translation of title: Word by Word: Materials for Beginners)
This book, written by Khonen Bordin, is a "beginner's" workbook. However, it is actually geared towards relatively advanced beginners, and should normally be used with an instructor in a course. It was, in fact, originally designed to serve as a supplement to
College Yiddish, for courses taught at Hebrew University, where
College Yiddish was used.
Note that the entire text (including the explanations of Yiddish grammar) is in Yiddish. No other languages are used.
The first part of the book presents various topics in grammar and other language points, along with exercises. The second part of the book presents excerpts of Yiddish literature.
Softcover. 232 pages. Published by Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Publication Year: 1999.
